Eco-friendly Nokia Bicycle Charger Coming to India in March, Will Cost Rs. 1,499

The much talked about Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit (DC-14)is reported to hit Indian market in March. The Bicycle Charger Kit works even at walking speed (6 km/h) and when the speed reaches 50 km/h it stops charging. Nokia claims on its site that with just 20 minutes of cycling at 10 km/h, you can power up a Nokia 1202 mobile phone for 1 hour of talk time or 74 hours of standby time. The charger is compatible with Nokia phones that have a 2mm charging interface, which includes most mid-range Nokia phones.

The Nokia Bicycle Charger has an ergonomic design to make installation easier to suit different types of bicycles. The Kit has three components - a bottle dynamo, a charger and a phone holder. While the bottle dynamo fits to the front of the cycle with the help of a mounting bracket, the charger and phone holder are attached to the handle bars. The phone holder also has a rubberised design to hold the phone securely and protect it from shocks and vibrations. The charger has an ultrasonic-welded case and clear coating to withstand dirt, humidity and weather. The charger is reported to be priced at Rs. 1,499 in India.

Sony unveils new gaming device, codenamed NGP

Sony Gulf has unveiled its much talked about next generation portable entertainment system, codenamed NGP, which will make its debut at the end of 2011.

The NGP is designed to offer interactive entertainment, parallel to that of the PlayStation.

The new system is designed to offer a rich gaming experience combined with social connectivity through Wi-Fi and 3G network connection capabilities. It will also feature built-in GPS and Wi-Fi location service support.

The NGP has a multi-touch 5-inch organic light emitting display (OLED) and a high-performance CPU / GPU, designed to enable rich graphics.

The system also incorporates a multi-touch pad on the back of the device, designed to allow users to be able to  interact directly with games in three dimension-like motion, through "touch, grab, trace, push and pull" moves of the fingers.

While the NGP has the same basic design as the PSP, the NGP will feature two analog sticks, which enable a wider range of game genres to be brought into the portable experience.

The device will also feature a front and rear camera, built in stereo speakers and a built-in microphone.

Game titles designed for the NGP will have an in-built "LiveArea" where users can share their gaming experience with other players.

NGP users will also be able to view an "Activity" log which is constantly updated with users' gaming accomplishments.

Sony Gulf FZE will also provide location-based services on the NGP.

The new application called "Near", will be pre-installed in the system to let users find out what their friends in the vicinity are playing.

The NGP has also adopted a new gaming medium, a small flash memory based card, dedicated for NGP software titles.

The card is designed to be able to store the full software titles plus add-on game content or the game save data directly on to the card.

The NGP will also come equipped with three motion sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer and electronic compass.

The new PlayStation Suite will also closely coordinate with NGP. Game content for Android-based portable devices will also work on the NGP.
